EXTERRA Termite Colony Elimination System
Lines

The EXTERRA Termite Colony Elimination System is a systematic, multi-step termite baiting and colony elimination system. Recent and extensive Australian field trials have clearly demonstrated the effectiveness of the system in controlling subterranean termites in Australia.

The EXTERRA product has been used in the USA for several years with excellent results. The termite bait used is called "Requiem" and was registered on by the Australian Federal Government National Registration Authority on 9th July 2002 for commercial use in Australia as part of the EXTERRA termite baiting system.

Random Foraging

EXTERRA is designed for use in and around a building under attack from termites and/or as part of an ongoing monitoring plan to determine extent of localised termite activity.

The first step in the EXTERRA Termite Baiting Program is a thorough professional inspection of your property by an accredited termite control company.

Your termite control inspector can then determine the extent and nature of the threat to your property and recommend exactly where the EXTERRA Termite Bait Stations should be placed in and around a building in order to maximise the chance of the greatest number of termites consuming the Requiem bait product used in the system.

Station Placement

EXTERRA Termite Bait Stations are placed next to any termite activity found in or around the building during the inspection and in other likely areas of termite activity.

The EXTERRA Termite Bait Stations are checked regularly by the termite controller for evidence of termite activity.

A hand-held computer and bar code scanner is used to record and compute all the data about your property and ensure the quality of your termite control program.

The cost of this program will depend on the size of the subject building, the extent of the infestation, the risk of further attack and on-going termite activity and other environmental factors.

EXTERRA Interception of Termites

Termites infest the EXTERRA Termite Bait Stations.

Foraging termites feed on the cellulose material in the Stations. The unique (patented) open cavity design of the EXTERRA Termite Bait Station placed in the ground allows for termite attack to be observed without disturbing the feeding termites. This is of critical importance as unlike the SENTRICON system the termites are caused minimal disruption during the bait application process.

There are several distinct advantages of the EXTERRA Termite System over traditional termite control methods. Firstly, the EXTERRA Requiem Termite Bait is designed to actually eliminate the termite colony. Secondly, there is dramatic reduction in the amount of pesticide necessary for termite control compared with the traditional chemical soil barrier method.

Bait Placement

The EXTERRA Station is baited with Requiem

The Requiem Termite Bait can be added without any need to disturb the termites. This is vital in order to achieve quick and consistent results.

The unique formulation of the Requiem is highly palatable to termites and they readily consume the Requiem in preference to timber.

In fact Australian studies have shown that once termites start feeding on the Requiem they will stop feeding on the timbers in your home.

Safety Aspects: Requiem is of very low toxicity to you, your family, your pets and the environment. The Requiem bait product is contained in the EXTERRA tamper-resistant Stations to guard against interference by children or pets.

Feeding / Colony Elimination

EXTERRA Requiem Baiting is designed to eliminate the entire colony.

The termites feed on the Requiem Termite Bait and take it back to the colony where it is fed slowly throughout the entire colony by the termites which need to groom (to remove parasites} and feed each other.

Since the termites die gradually, they do not associate the colony's demise with the Requiem Bait. This ensures that the entire colony is eventually eliminated....usually within a few months of infestation and feeding on the Requiem bait.

Ongoing monitoring

The EXTERRA Termite Baiting System should remain in place even after the existing attack on your property has been eliminated.

Your property always remains susceptible to future attack from new termite colonies or other established colonies in your area.

To relieve this constant threat the EXTERRA Termite Colony Elimination works as an ongoing process of monitoring, baiting and eliminating colonies that may become active on your property in the future.

This makes its use ideal as an ongoing early warning system.
